The S.D.M. College of Dental Sciences, Dharwad, founded in the year 1986 is a self financing, non profitable organization with a vision of excellence in knowledge, skills and service. SDM Dental College Facilities
SDM Dental College provides hostel facilities to the students and has separate hostels for girls and boys. Students can avail the facilities of sports facilities, etc. Some other facilities are a auditorium, library, cafeteria, transport facilities, parking facilities, and many more.
- Library
Library is situated on the top floor of the institution, occupying a total of 11400 sq.ft area, with a mission to provide reading material and service of the highest quality, to teach skills needed for academic inquiry and lifelong learning, to support faculty and postgraduate research, to support the creation and use of multimedia by students and faculty.
A serene and peaceful ambience is always maintained which is apt for studying. A good collection of print material is available, which include Books, Magazines, Periodicals and Scientific Journals, with a special collection of MFDS course / reader’s modules and Craniofacial Growth Series. Being completely automated with wireless networking, issuing of library material is done by new and indigenously developed software, which enables centralised access of books and status of availability.
Keeping pace with the changing times, the college understands the growing need of a high speed leased line (1 Mpbs) internet facility as a search tool for keeping in touch with the latest in the scientific arena. Free browsing facility is provided at the browsing centre which gives online access to a variety of journals through J-Gate(Helinet Consortium). The library is also a WiFi hotspot. New books / journals are acquired regularly and a constant update of databases is done, ensuring the latest and the best. It has a capacity of housing 350 students at a time.
- Hostel
Three spacious hostels, one for boys (Kumara hostel) and two for girls (Kanya and Shraddha) are located within the college campus. The Kumar Hostel has 94 (3-seater) rooms with attached bathroom and hot water. The Kanya hostel also has 94 (3-seater) rooms with attached bath and hot water. The Shraddha hostel has single and double accommodation with attached bath and hot water. Hostels are provided with telephone connections and recreation rooms with TV and reading facilities. Apart from this, six rooms each in the Kanya and Kumar hostels and one room in Shraddha hostel are designated guest rooms to accommodate parents/guests of the students.
- Cafeteria
A cafeteria with modern facilities is available within the campus and is open for staff and students. it is open till late hours and serves healthy and hygienic food at affordable prices. The whole ambiance of the cafeterias is so soothing and delightful and has become a place for relaxation and discussion for the students.
- Auditorium
The institution has an Auditorium to accommodate 950 Seating Capacity for Cultural and various other activities like Convocation, Stage Shows etc. The auditorium is spacious and well-ventilated. This auditorium, which is a regular venue for conferences, workshops, and seminars, has all the facilities to enhance the learning process and is a vast space that serves the diverse needs of quality education.
