Kempegowda Institute Of Medical Sciences Facilities Provided

Kempegowda Institute Of Medical Sciences provides hostel for girls and boys. Students can avail the facilities of Wi-Fi networks, sports facilities, etc. Some other facilities are a gymnasium, auditorium, library, cafeteria, transport facilities, parking facilities, Bank & ATM facility, and many more.

• Library

The KIMS Library was established in 1981 when the College started functioning. Year after year it has made steady progress and has grown into a collection of 21,500 Medical Books & 10,150 bound volumes with subscription to 145 periodicals yearly on various Medical subjects. There is also a library in the hospital complex to cater to the clinical departments with a seating capacity of 100 there are 4,600 books available in this library. Both the central library and the hospital library have in addition a digital library with internet facilities. In addition to above all departments have a department library of their own. The library is open from 8:30 am to 9:00 pm on all workings days. Xerox facilities are available in both the libraries. There are also reading rooms for the students to bring in their own reading material to study.

• Hostel

There are two separate hostels at present, one for the boys and another for the girls. The boys and girls hostels are located in the Institute campus at Banashankari and can accommodate about 200 students each. Student Welfare Officers and Wardens are always available to students and interns to lend a patient ear to all their problems related to curricular activities and to provide suitable remedies.

KIMS Mens Hostel

         The Men’s Hostel has 83 rooms and is located in the Banashankari Campus adjacent to KIMS Pre-clinical  Block, Bangalore 560070.  The rooms are well furnished and each room  accommodates 2 – 3 persons.  The hostel has mess facilities serving both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.    There is a round the clock vigil provided through a professional security agency and the visitors are screened and allowed inside.  There is a manager in the hostel to attend to the problems of the inmates. There is a general control and discipline in the hostel and the inmates are not allowed to be away unauthorisedly in the night hours.   The current monthly charge per person is about Rs.2,000/- which includes food and accommodation.  At the time of admission, an amount of Rs. 27,500/- is charged,  of which Rs.15,000/- is refundable at the time of leaving the hostel.  A Senior  Professor  is the Warden and he is responsible for the day to day administration.  For further details contact  manager/warden: Tel.No.(080) 26919704  From 10.00AM – 5.00 PM.

KIMS Ladies Hostel

The Ladies Hostel has 83 rooms and is located in Banashankari Campus adjacent to KIMS Pre-clinical  Block, Bangalore-70.  The rooms are well furnished and each room  accommodates 2 – 3 persons.  The hostel has mess facilities serving both Vegetarian and Non-vegetarian food.  There is a guest room facility in the hostel for visiting parents of students to stay for short duration.  There is an internet facility with broadband connection in the hostel.  There is a round the clock vigil provided through a professional security agency and the visitors are screened and allowed inside.  There is a resident manager in the hostel to attend to the problems of the inmates round the clock.  There is a general control and discipline in the hostel and the inmates are not allowed to be away unauthorisedly in the night hours.  There is an own book reading room facility. The current monthly charge per person is about Rs.2,000/- which includes food and accommodation.  At the time of admission, an amount of Rs. 27,500/- is charged,  of which Rs.15,000/- is refundable at the time of leaving the hostel.  A Senior Lady Professor  is the Warden and she is responsible for the day to day administration.  For further details contact resident manager/warden: Tel.No.(080) 26713655 (10.00AM – 5.00 PM).

• Transportation

There are five buses including one mini bus and two Maruthi vans available for Transportation of students to and from Banashankari campus to the Hospital premises and to transport them to various training centres.

• Cafeteria

The Hospital Canteen Sri Nidhi Sagar caters to the need of Faculty, Students and staff at KIMS Hospital. A new canteen with modern amenities is open at the college campus.

• Auditorium

There is a Auditorium in the campus equipped with the slide and multimedia projectors.

• Banking and ATM

Punjab National Bank is situated in the college campus to cater to the banking need of the students. ATM facilities are available. ATM’s of Corporation Bank, Canara Bank, State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank are situated surrounding the college premises. Syndicate Bank, BIT Branch caters to the need of students in the Hospital premises.

• Sports/Gym

The college has a fully equipped health club with a 10 Station Multi-Gym, two TreadMills and Steppers and a Trained Instructor. The Health Club is open to all students of KIMS from 6:00AM to 8:00PM. Indoor Games like Chess, Carrom and Table tennis are also available. The New Sports Complex coming up will house two Synthetic Tennis Courts, Basketball and Volleyball Courts and an Amphitheatre.
